Access Bank appoints AfDB risk chief Orimoloye as executive director

ABUJA, Nigeria — Access Holdings Plc has appointed Ifedayo Olaniyi Orimoloye as Executive Director, Risk Management of Access Bank Plc, effective September 21, 2026, following approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Kanyi Daily reports that Access Holdings disclosed the appointment in a statement signed by Group Company Secretary Sunday Ekwochi, saying it followed the required regulatory approval.

The group said the appointment reinforces its corporate governance and risk management framework. “Access Holdings Plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ifedayo Olaniyi Orimoloye as Executive Director, Risk Management of its flagship subsidiary, Access Bank Plc, following the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),” the statement read.

Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Group Chairman of Access Holdings, described Orimoloye as a risk management professional with international experience. “Mr. Orimoloye brings strong global risk management experience and strategic leadership to the Board of Access Bank Plc. His appointment will further strengthen the Bank’s risk governance and support its scale-to-value focus. We are pleased to welcome him and look forward to his contributions to the Group’s long-term value creation agenda,” he said.

Orimoloye has more than 25 years of experience across Africa, Europe and the United States. Before joining Access Bank, he served as Group Chief Risk Officer of the African Development Bank (AfDB), where he oversaw a risk portfolio exceeding $40 billion and contributed to the institution’s retention of AAA credit ratings from Moody’s, S&P Global Ratings and Fitch Ratings.

His previous roles included senior risk management positions at Sterling Bank Plc, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, Wells Fargo Bank, HSBC and Citigroup. He also worked on capital market and securitisation transactions during his time at the AfDB, including initiatives focused on renewable energy financing in Africa.

Orimoloye holds bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Finance and an MBA in Finance from California State University, Hayward. His appointment comes as Access Holdings continues to adjust leadership and talent structures across its businesses, including an employee share ownership programme that vested more than 200 million shares in 77 employees in July.
