Today has been a black Sunday for shop owners at Eleganza Plaza in Suru-Alaba Market on Lagos-Badagry Expressway as Property worth millions was yesterday, Sunday destroyed in an inferno that gutted part of the plaza. Several shops, offices and warehouses were affected.
It was gathered that the fire, , started around, 2 a.m., on Sunday, when the complex was still under lock and lasted for hours.
Eyewitness said that, officials of Lagos State Fire Service, were at the scene to put out the fire which emanated from an office in the complex and later spread to other parts of the complex.
An Assistant Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Mr. Fadipe Razaaq, who spoke to Vanguard said he got a report on the incident at abour 3 a.m., and contacted the fire station at Sari-Igamu to respond to the situation.
On arriving at the scene, smoke was seen billowing from several windows of the complex while security men prevented people from entering the plaza
