Lagos Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, who fell out with his godfather, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, before the APC governorship primary election, which led to him getting trounced during the primary election by a selected candidate Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has perfected a plan to dump the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Accord Party.

Since his humiliating defeat, Governor Ambode has lost the support of lawmakers in the State House of Assembly and has also been battling the Lagos APC circles. There have been several reported plans and rumours of his impeachment before May 29, 2019, which is the handover date, though the Speaker of the House recently debunked the rumors.

A source said Governor Ambode has purchased the Accord governorship nomination form through a proxy because he is tired and frustrated of being alienated by his own political party, in his own state. He plans to defect to a party where he can at least call the shots in some degree.

According to the source:

“Ambode is set to contest the next governorship election in Lagos state as the candidate of the Accord Party. Someone purchased a governorship form for Ambode. The name there is a dummy which will be replaced by exploiting the provisions of the electoral law.

“A dummy name is in place under the Accord party and the necessary substitution will be made just before the final date”.
