The outgoing governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has said that the problem with Nigeria is that they don’t understand Igbo people, that’s why they are always chased from pillar to post.
Okorocha said this while speaking at the Post-election peace summit organized by the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, on Thursday at the Palace of Eze Imo, Owerri.
The Governor said that the Igbo people are the most misrepresented ethnic group in Nigeria. He said:
“The problem with our Country Nigeria is that they don’t understand the people called Igbos.
“Igbos, if I must describe us are the most misrepresented ethnic group in Nigeria. It’s only the Igbos amongst all other ethnic groups that can go to any other culture and settle to develop that culture.
“The Igbo man is the one who will hardly come back home to his grassroot without leaving a lasting impression of good development in the place he is living. But Nigerians have taken this for weakness. And that’s why at every side they’re chased from pillar to post as if they’re not part of the entity called Nigeria”.
Okorocha also said that the responsibility of ensuring peace rests more squarely on the shoulders of the traditional rulers of the country.
