Actress, Halima Abubakar Says Her Father Took Her To Several Doctors To Check Her Virginity

Popular Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar has revealed that her father used to take her to several doctors to check if her virginity is still intact.

Halima was reacting to an interview in which American rapper T.I revealed that he takes his 18-year-old daughter, Deyjah Harris, yearly to the gynecologist to check her hymen and confirm she’s still a virgin.

According to T.I,  he’s simply exercising his right as a parent to steer his daughter away from what he considers bad decisions. He said:

“Deyjah’s 18, just graduated high school now and she’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself. And yes, not only have we had the conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynaecologist to check her hymen.

“So it’s this one time we go, I think this might have been after her 16th birthday. This is what we do. Right after the birthday, we celebrate. Usually, like the day after the party, she’s enjoying her gifts.

“I put a sticky note on the door: ‘Gyno. Tomorrow. 9:30.’ So we’ll go and sit down and the doctor will come and talk and the doctor’s maintaining a high level of professionalism.

“He’s like, ‘You know sir, I have to, in order to share information’ — I’m like, ‘Deyjah they want you to sign this so we can share information. Is there anything you wouldn’t want me to know? See doc? No problem.’.

“And so then they come and say, ‘Well I just want you to know that there are other ways besides sex that the hymen can be broken like bike riding, athletics, horseback riding and just other forms of athletic physical activity.’

“So I say, ‘Look doc, she don’t ride no horses, she don’t ride no bike, she don’t play no sports. Just check the hymen please and give me back my results expeditiously. I will say as of her 18th birthday, her hymen is still intact.”

Since the news broke out, many social media users have been condemning the act, saying it’s an
act of being overprotective, while others feel it’s a good move as it ensures the chastity of the child.

However, Halima seems to be on the supporting side of the argument as she revealed that  she was also subjected to virginity test by her father at age 14

According to her, when she was 14, her dad took her to see different doctors three times just to be sure she was still a virgin. Halima, however, admitted that she hated her dad a bit for forcing her to undergo virginity test, but still she feels he was only trying to protect her.

“I don’t see anything wrong in checking , if your daughter is still a virgin. I remember my dad taking me to see different doctors, just to be sure..He stopped after the 3time. I hated him then a bit. BUT HE IS JUST A FATHER TRYING TO PROTECT HIS STUBBORN CHILD”
