UPDATE: US Embassy Debunks Viral Report About Bishop Oyedepo Being Denied American Visa

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has debunked viral report that Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Church a.k.a Winners Chapel, was denied American visa.

Bishop Oyedepo was reported to have approached the Lagos Consulate of the US embassy to renew his visa on Thursday but was refused under the guise that “he did not qualify for visa renewal in its assessment.”

In a short statement on its Twitter page, the US Embassy described the report as “Fake News and completely false.”

“#FalseNews Alert! Be advised, the reports making the rounds about a visa being denied to Nigerian Bishop Oyedepo are false,” the statement reads.

“If you have seen this manufactured item in the media, help defeat this #misinformation by communicating to everyone that it is completely false.”

This is coming following reports that emerged last week, indicating that President Donald Trump is planning to add seven countries to its travel ban list in order to restricts the flow of immigrants and visitors into the US.

The affected countries included Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania and Eritrea from Africa while Kyrgyzstan and Belarus from Eastern Europe and Myanmar from Asia.
