Mohammed Zuru’s death was confirmed in a statement on Monday by his aide, Murtala Diri.
He reportedly died on Monday evening in Egypt, where he had been undergoing medical treatment.
Before his death, Zuru represented Zuru Constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly and served as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
The statement described him as a respected political leader from the Zuru Emirate, adding that his death is a huge loss to his constituency, the state legislature, the wider political community, and Kebbi State as a whole.
It also noted that he remained one of the most influential voices in the Assembly until his final moments, playing an important role in lawmaking and the affairs of government.
Further information about his burial arrangements and official condolence messages is expected to be released later by the Kebbi State Government and his family.
