Popular US actor Chadwick Boseman has died of cancer at the age of 43.
The actor best known for playing Black Panther in the Marvel superhero franchise died at home in Los Angeles surrounded by hos family.
Chadwick was diagnosed with colon cancer four years ago but refused to disclose the information to the general public.
The news has left his fans and the film industry stunned.
Get Out director Jordan Peele, said it was “a crushing blow”.
“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” his family said in the statement.
“From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more – all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”
A statement published by his family to his official Twitter account reads:

Boseman was a native of Anderson, South Carolina, and attended T.L Hanna High School before graduating in 1995.
He attended Howard University before studying at the British American Drama Academy at Oxford, England
