A celebrated television and radio host, Larry King has died at the age of 87, weeks after he was hospitalized with symptoms of the coronavirus.
He died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to a statement by Ora Media, a production company he co-founded.
Although the statement did not specify the cause of death, King was recently hospitalized with Covid-19 and had endured health problems for many years, including a near-fatal stroke in 2019 and diabetes.
“With profound sadness, Ora Media announces the death of our co-founder, host, and friend Larry King, who passed away this morning at age 87 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles,” the company said.
‘Ora Media sends our condolences to his surviving children Larry, Jr., Chance, Cannon and the entire King family.”
King conducted an estimated 50,000 interviews in his six-decade career, which included 25 years as host of the popular CNN talk show Larry King Live.
He was married eight times to seven women and had five children. Two of them died last year within weeks of each other – daughter Chaia died from lung cancer and son Andy of a heart attack.
KanyiDaily had reported last year that Larry King filed for divorce from his wife of 22 years, and mother to two of his sons, Shawn King.
