Suspected Fulani herdsmen have been accused of slaughtering many students of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) formerly known as Anambra State University.
Although the number of students killed are yet to be known, it was learnt that on Sunday midnight, some lodges where attacked by suspected Fulani herdsmen at igbariam Junction.
A Twitter user identified as Somto Okonkwo confirmed that little children, women, men were killed and beheaded during the gruesome account.
He wrote: “I Just Confirmed The News About The Gruesome Slaughter By Fulani Herdsmen In Igbariam, Anambra State. Little Children, Women, Men Were Killed & Beheaded (I Have Other Videos To Confirm This But I Can’t Post). There Is Serious Tension In Igbariam Right Now. More Details To Come!”
However, KanyiDaily got in touch with a lecturer in the university who confirmed to us that the lodge/hostel in question is an abandoned hostel occupied by villagers not students.
It has not yet been confirmed if the people murdered were students or villagers.
UPDATE 2: Students within the vicinity told Kanyi Daily News that they did not hear any strange noise last night. Because if people were being murdered, there would have been shouting and cries for help.
UPDATE 3: It is being suggested that those people were probably murdered else where and their corpses dumped at Igbariam.
UPDATE 4: It’s not yet confirmed if Fulani herdsmen carried out the deadly attack because it’s being rumoured that the dead bodies might be fulani.
