Barcelona legend, Lionel Messi has finally joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on a two-year contract after his emotional departure from the Camp Nou.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner arrived in Paris on Tuesday afternoon to seal his move to the French club on a two-year deal – with an option for a third – worth £25m per year after tax, plus bonuses.
The 34-year-old Agintine star who was pictured waving to fans wearing a “This is Paris” t-shirt, was accompanied by his wife, three children, and his father Jorge Messi, who is also his representative.
Jorge Messi, who spoke briefly to the group of Spanish TV crews that had gathered, confirmed that his son will be playing his football at the Parc des Princes next season.
“Yes,” was Jorge Messi’s simple response when asked if his son would be joining PSG, as fans wait for the Argentine star’s move to be officially announced after undergoing medical.
It is expected that Messi will receive in the region of €30 million-35 million (£25m-30m/$35m-$41m) per season during his time at PSG, while there will also be team and individual bonuses.
Yes! Messi did receive offers from other clubs including Abu Dhabi-owned Manchester City, but PSG was always the option that he liked the most.
KanyiDaily had reported how Messi left Barcelona as their all-time top-scorer with 672 goals to his name from 778 appearances across all competitions in 21 years.
