Gunmen have kidnapped a lawmaker representing Aguata Constituency 1 in the Anambra House of Assembly, Okechukwu Okoye.
It was gathered that the lawmaker who is an indigene of Isuofia, the same community as Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra, was kidnapped in Aguata on Sunday.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga confirmed the kidnap while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN), on Sunday.
According to him, Okoye was driving a black Siena bus before the incident.
Ikenga said the vehicle had since been recovered and the command had launched a manhunt for the kidnappers with the aim of rescuing the lawmaker.
