Popular Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade has taken to social media to cry out after her belongings were ransacked and her money stolen inside her hotel room in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The singer recently traveled to Côte d’Ivoire for the Creative Africa Nexus Weekend (CANEX WKND), a 3-day gathering of creatives from Africa and the Diaspora.
The event hosted by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), the African Union and the Government of Côte d’Ivoire serves as a prelude to the next Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) Summit at IATF2023.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, Yemi revealed that her belongings were ransacked and all the money carted away by “unknown people” who invaded her hotel room while she was away.
“A few minutes after I left my room, some unknown people decided to go through my things and steal all the money they could find. Very good,” the 33-year-old singer wrote.
KanyiDaily had also reported how Yemi Alade was denied a visa to perform at the Festival International Nuits d’Afrique in Canada over fears she might not leave the country.
