It was gathered that voters who are not aligned with the APC are being prevented from entering polling stations or casting their ballots in the ongoing presidential and national assembly elections.
The incident sparked outrage across the country, with many Nigerians taking to social media to condemn the move and call for an immediate intervention in the matter.
“Intimidation and voter suppression have no place in a democratic election. This is a clear violation of the rights of Nigerian citizens,” tweeted one concerned citizen.
After the video of the threat in Elegushi went viral on social media, the military arrived in several cars and upon sighting them, residents rejoiced and began chanting, “We must vote. we must vote.”
KanyiDaily had also published a video of a political thug threatening residents to vote for only APC at a polling unit in Fehintola Giwa Street Aguda, Surulere, Lagos state.
