Federal Fire Service To Nigerians: Stop Attack On Firemen

The Federal Fire Service on Tuesday called on members of the Nigerian public to stop attacking firemen.

The Federal Fire Service made the call in a statement posted on its Twitter handle.

The statement reads, “STOP THE ATTACK!! The market was bustling with activity when suddenly a loud explosion was heard and smoke started billowing out from one of the shops. People quickly ran out of the market in a panic, screaming and shouting for help.

“The fire quickly spread and engulfed the entire market. In the midst of the chaos, men of the Federal Fire Service arrived and immediately got to work.

“Just as the firefighters were about to put out the fire, a group of hoodlums appeared from nowhere and began attacking the firemen and their appliance with stones and sticks.

“The windscreen was broken, tires were deflated and their water hose was punctured. The injured firemen were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“The traders’ goods were destroyed by the fire as the firefighters couldn’t do their job as a result of the attack. Someone from the crowd shouted.

“Stop attacking the firefighters! They are here to save lives and property!

“The police quickly arrived and restored order and a backup fire appliance and men were called to the market to fight the fire. Finally, the fire was extinguished.

“The investigation revealed that the fire at the market was a case of arson. We must all come together to strongly condemn such acts of violence against Fire Men and their appliances.

“We must also ensure that arsonists are brought to justice and that their actions are not repeated.

“Let us all say no to attack on Fire Men and their appliances and no to ARSON.

“Let us all work together to protect our Fire Men and their appliance and ensure that they are able to do their job without any interference.”
