KanyiDaily recalls that Atiku and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa recently led a protest at the INEC headquarters in Abuja over alleged irregularities that marred the presidential election.
PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, who was among the protesters, demanded that the INEC must cancel the election won by Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reacting to the protest while speaking at a recent event, Wike mocked his party members referring to them as a “labour union, students’ union” chanting “aluta continua”.
The governor, who has been in a rift with PDP leadership, revealed that he was drinking a 40-year-old whiskey with his friend while they watched the protest on television.
“What is in us is greater than what is in them,” the governor said in a mix of English and pidgin.
“As they were protesting, I just sat down and I took one 40-year-old whiskey. I called some of my friends ‘o boy, sit down. Make una sit down open 40 years.
“Then I put on television, see as dem dey do marching (Mimics). They have become labour union, they have become students union ‘all we are saying…’ chai. You are saying what? What are you saying?
“That you have taken over the role of students’ union, aluta continua. That is what the party has become, aluta continua.”
KanyiDaily recalls that INEC said the protest letter received from the PDP will be transmitted to INEC national chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, adding that the “grievances” will be addressed.
