KanyiDaily recalls that Seun Kuti turned himself to the police on May 15, after the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, ordered his arrest for slapping an officer on Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
On Tuesday, Seun Kuti was arraigned before the Yaba Magistrate’s Court for assaulting a police officer, and was remanded at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba.
After spending more than eight days in police detenion, the musician finally regained his freedom on Tuesday night, May 23, after perfecting his bail condition.
Taking to his Instagram story on Friday, Seun Kuti opened up about his experience in jail, revealing that he was forced to lie on a cold, hard floor alongside other prisoners.
Despite the horrible treatment he endured, the musician insisted that this fate in prison was preferable to sitting among politicians in what he referred to as the ‘Devil’s house’.
He wrote, “Dem put me for hard cold floor, in the midst of prisoners, still better than sitting in the devil’s house with politicians.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Seun Kuti had recently thanked all those who stood by him after he was arrested, stressing that he owes them his freedom and sanity.
