Tinubu and Shettima were conferred with the National Honours of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) and Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON).
GCFR is the title strictly reserved for the country’s presidents. GCON is reserved for Vice Presidents but can also be conferred on very important personalities in the country at the discretion of the president.
The investiture took place at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
It is part of a series of events lined up for the May 29 inauguration ceremony.
Tinubu and Shettima will be sworn in as president and Vice President on May 29 to begin a new administration after the successful completion of Buhari’s administration.
