It was gathered that the attack occurred at Williams’ late father’s residence in the 200 Housing Estate (Old Poly Quarters) in Lokoja on June 3, 2023, as reported by Daily Trust.
The motive behind the stabbing was purportedly Williams’ alleged romantic involvement with the assailant’s older sister.
Prior to the incident, the victim had been dealing with relationship issues concerning the suspect’s sister.
Sources said the suspect, an SS3 student, visited Williams’ residence under the pretense of seeking academic assistance for a specific subject, claiming to be preparing for the WAEC exams.
Unknown to Williams’ father, who directed the suspect to Williams’ room, the assailant had ulterior motives. The boy entered the room and stabbed Williams in the stomach before hastily fleeing the premises.
Tragically, Williams succumbed to his injuries before his family could rush him to the Specialist Hospital in Lokoja.
The suspect was subsequently apprehended by the police, and the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department at the State Headquarters in Lokoja.
The spokesperson for FUL, Daniel Iyke, who confirmed the incident, acknowledged that the stabbing occurred within the victim’s residence, noting that law enforcement authorities are actively investigating the matter.
“The police are on the matter. The thing is that the student lived with his parents. The stabbing happened in his house as alleged,” Daniel Iyke said.
