Happie Boys were widely known for their viral dance video while working as security guards at Chicken Republic before they were sacked which created a wave of sympathy among Nigerians, including Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, who generously sponsored their education in Cyprus.
On Monday, June 12, the duo, Matthew Precious Kelechi, and Amakor Johnson, revealed that Apostle Chibuzor discontinued their scholarship after sending them to Cyprus.
They shared their current predicament in Cyprus, revealing that their time in school lasted only six months before they were forced to drop out due to a lack of financial support.
The boys publicly dragged the philanthropist and shared a voice note in which the clergyman appeared to have cursed them after he accused them of trying to disgrace him.
Reacting via his Facebook page on Wednesday, Apostle Chibuzor emphasized that his initial intervention for the boys was driven by the belief that education, rather than security work, was crucial for individuals of their age.
The clergyman explained that due to the exchange rate of the Dollar, it became financially burdensome for him to continue paying the school fees of over 4,000 individuals enrolled in his scholarship program.
He said he had communicated this situation to all the parents involved and presented them with two options: either to return to Nigeria and continue their studies or to pursue education in Benin Republic.
Apostle Chibuzor, who didn’t reveal why he allegedly cursed Happie Boys, expressed his forgiveness towards the boys and extended an invitation for them to resume their education in any university in Nigeria or Benin Republic.
In a new video shared on social media, the boys apologized to the cleric and thanked him for his scholarship program, but they declined his offer to come back to Nigeria.
KanyiDaily recalls that Happie Boys had accused the Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere of using and dumping people, saying, “no one can use our stars to ride private jets”.
