NNPCL Debunks Fuel Price Hike Rumour

The retail arm of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reacted to rumours that it is working on increasing the price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol.

In a short statement on its official X handle on Monday night, the NNPCL refuted the rumours and urged customers to disregard the speculations.

It said there are no fresh plans to raise the price of petrol from the current N617 per litre to between N720 and N750.

The statement reads, “Dear esteemed customers, we at NNPCL Retail value your patronage, and we do not have the intention to increase our PMS pump prices as widely speculated.

“Please buy the best quality products at the most affordable prices at our NNPCL Retail stations nationwide.”

The refutal comes hours after the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) vowed to begin a total, comprehensive, and indefinite nationwide shutdown of the country if there is another increment in petrol pump price from the existing 617 naira.

NLC president, Joe Ajaero, gave the notification on Monday, at the African Trade Union alliance meeting in Abuja, where organised labour also warned against undermining the demands of the union.
