The National Treasurer of the NBA, Funmilola Oluwatosin Adeogun, who made the allegations on Friday at NBA’s Annual General Conference (AGC) in Abuja, alleged that Yakubu Maikyau has been making financial decisions for the association without her approval.
During the conference, Adeogun declined to present the financial reports, citing her lack of awareness of the true financial status of the association.
According to her, memos related to financial matters were not routed through her office but instead went through the office of the secretary, with the president’s approval.
Shes said, “It will be incongruous of me to stand here and tell you that this is the financial position. It may be, but I do not know because I wasn’t involved, I wasn’t informed.
“It wasn’t put together by me and I will not disrespect you by standing here to give you unknown figures because I do not know the true financial position of this association.”
Adeogun clarified that she was not a member of committees related to finances, such as the finance committee or the stabilization fund committee.
She revealed that during an executive meeting on August 15, Maikyau informed her that he did not require her office’s consultation or consent to manage the association’s finances.
As a result, Adeogun declared herself unfit to present the financial report or sign any financial documents, as she had not been involved in their preparation.
