Ilebaye Reacts After Being Criticized For Sharing Her Account Details For Fans’ Donations After Winning N120 Million

Big Brother Naija All Stars winner, Ilebaye Odiniya has been criticized for soliciting funds after winning N120 million from the just concluded reality show.

KanyiDaily had reported how Ilebaye won the BBNaija All Stars N120m grand prize on Sunday night, October 1, after weeks of intense competition, surpassing strong contenders like Mercy Eke, Ceec, Adekunle, Pere Egbi, and Cross Okonkwo.

Hours after clinching the BBNaija prize, Ilebaye took to her Twitter page and shared her bank account details to guide fans on sending money or gifts in order to prevent potential scams.

She wrote, “We’ve received information about fans planning to send gifts or contributions. Please refrain from sending money to any account that isn’t officially posted on Ilebaye’s verified accounts. For gifts, please send an email.

“The only accessible account is the Baye Tribe account (9608176782 – Providus). We won’t be responsible for any misappropriation of funds. Thank you 🙏🏾”

This move sparked disapproval from a Twitter user who accused Ilebaye of greed, noting that she had just won a substantial cash prize and should not be seeking additional funds from her fans.

One Emma ik Umeh (Tcee ) I @emmaikumeh wrote, “To tell you how greedy Ilebaye is, she’s telling her fans to send money to her, despite the fact that she just won 120 million naira CASH. She still wants foolish and stupid Nigerians to donate money to her.”

In her reaction, Ilebaye clarified that her tweet aimed to protect fans from falling victim to scammers and emphasized that they did not solicit funds.

She explained that the account details were provided to ensure fans could safely send gifts, as fake account numbers were circulating, and the intention was not to request additional funds.

“This tweet was solely to avoid people who WANT to gift falling into the hands of scammers. We didn’t solicit for funds, we only highlighted the account we have access to.

“Too many fake account numbers are circulating and we will not be held accountable for any misappropriation,” the reality star wrote.

KanyiDaily recalls that relationship expert, Blessing CEO had reacted to Ilebaye’s victory, saying she used emotional blackmail to capture the hearts of Nigerians.
