The Kwara State Fire Service on Thursday recovered the body of a 49-year-old man and also rescued a 17-year-old boy from a domestic well in Offa town

Fasasi Afeez and his son Kaleed Afeez, from Gaa Jangbo, Igbonna Road Offa, Kwara State, both fell into a well.

Tragically, Fasasi did not survive, but his son Kaleed was successfully rescued

According to Hassan Adekunle, the spokesperson for the state fire service, the incident took place around 4:11 pm.

The brigade was alerted to the scene via a phone call exchange by Alhaji Taiye Gbadamosi, a resident in the vicinity.

According to a report, “the rescued boy went to fetch water from the domestic well and in the process of fetching water, one of his legs suddenly slipped off the ground and he eventually tumbled down into the well.

“However, before the arrival of fire servicemen, his father while trying to rescue the victim, his legs suddenly slipped off the ground and he eventually tumbled down into the well too.”

Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed deep sadness regarding the incident and appealed to the general public to exercise caution in their daily routines.

He also urged them to avoid sending underage children to fetch water from domestic wells.
