Mohbad’s Autopsy Results To Be Ready In Four Weeks – Dr Richard Somiari

Dr Richard Somiari, the director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, has shared an update about the autopsy of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Dr Richard Somiari disclosed that the findings from Mohbad’s autopsy are anticipated to be available within the next three or four weeks.

He made this known during his testimony at a coroner’s inquest investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the late singer.

Mohbad, aged 27, passed away on September 12, 2023, with his burial following the next day. His demise sparked controversies, prompting the Lagos state government to initiate a coroner’s inquest.

Commencing on October 13, 2023, the inquest proceedings are being held at the Ikorodu magistrates’ court.

The witness was cross-examined on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, by defence counsel in the inquest.

During cross-examination by the defence counsel, Somiari conveyed, “We expected to get the first set of autopsy results in three to four weeks and re-confirm to authenticate the cause of the death.

“We searched for multiple possibilities, to check if poison was involved in death of Mohbad since no actual cause was mentioned.”

Somiari assured the public regarding the stringent security measures and monitoring protocols implemented for the autopsy samples.

We have a place where items are stored for safety and security of results. There is a procedure for monitoring samples moved abroad,” he said.

Additionally, Sadiq ‘Spending’ Ayobami testified, revealing that he had seen Mohbad the day before his demise.

The pair attended a concert in Ikorodu before returning to Ayobami’s residence, from where he departed prior to the singer’s passing.

Addressing the issue of paternity concerning Mohbad’s child, Abiodun Kolawole, representing the African Women Lawyers Association, urged the deceased’s parents to pursue legal avenues rather than resorting to social media.

The coroner adjourned the proceedings until April 15, instructing all parties involved in the inquest to be present on the designated day.

KanyiDaily recalls that Lagos State Police Command had confirmed that it has not received Mohbad’s autopsy report.
