This comes after Jumoke Aderounmu’s brother publicly criticized Funke Akindele for mourning her sister’s death after allegedly abandoning her during her final moments.
In a series of Instagram post, the late actress’ brother, Adeola Aderounmu accused Akindele of fake love and hypocrisy,
He revealed that his sister had attempted to contact Akindele multiple times and reached out through mutual friends, but received no response.
He questioned the authenticity of Akindele’s grief, suggesting that it was only after Aderounmu’s passing that the actress showed concern.
Reacting in an Instagram Live session, Funke Akindele opened up about her own struggles, including the loss of her mother, marriage, and political setbacks, as she tried to rebuild her life.
Expressing her dismay at hurtful comments directed towards her, Akindele recounted how she had inquired about Aderounmu’s well-being while she was alive, only to be told by actor Jide Awobona that that the late actress wanted people to contact her for job opportunities.
Akindele vehemently denied the allegations of abandonment, stating that she reached out to Aderounmu’s brother upon seeing his accusations but received no response.
She emphasized that she was unaware of Aderounmu’s illness and lamented being unfairly criticized despite facing her own personal challenges.
The actress expressed her confusion and distress, particularly in response to hurtful wishes directed towards her own children.
Amidst tears, she said: “Someone made a comment on my page just now that I will bury my children. What have I done wrong?
“When Jumoke was alive, I reached out to Jide to ask about her and he got back to me that Jummy wanted people to be calling her for jobs. I saw Jummy’s brother’s post online yesterday that I abandoned her.
“I sent him a message but he didn’t respond. Nobody told me that Jummy was sick. I don’t beef any filmmaker.
“I have my trying moments too. I lost my mother, marriage, politics, etc. I am trying to get my life back together”.
