Abiola, who died on July 7, 1998, was a business executive, philanthropist, and politician who is hailed as a figure of democratic change in Nigeria.
During a podcast on Noble Nigeria, David Hundeyin accused the late MKO Abiola of gaining his wealth through illegal activities.
The journalist compared Abiola to President Tinubu, whom he also accused of getting rich through shady schemes.
He listed various crimes Abiola was allegedly involved in, including gun running, financing coups, and smuggling.
According to him, Abiola was involved in almost every illegal activity from 1878 to 1992.
He said, “Before Tinubu, there was the original Tinubu who went by the name MKO Abiola, and despite all of his wealth and all of his money, his money was made under similar circumstances, by the way, because MKO was also a criminal. Let’s be clear about that.
‘”There is no type of illegal activity that man was not involved in,” he added.
“Gun running, coup financing, smuggling of illegal or illegal commodities—his hand was inside, and he made a fantastic fortune.
“He also alleged that there was nothing illegal that happened between 1878 and 1992 that his hands were not inside.”
David Hundeyin also blamed Abiola for delaying Nigeria’s telecommunications development.
He alleged that Abiola received a large contract to build the country’s telephone infrastructure but pocketed the money instead of completing the project.
“He basically got a huge contract to provide the backbone for telephones in Nigeria, and it turned out to be a contract scam because he just pocketed the money and did not do the work,” he claimed.
KanyiDaily recalls that David Hundeyin had alleged that President Bola Tinubu was linked with criminal organizations, street gangs, drug cartels, and mafia all around the world.
