House Of Reps To Investigate EFCC And NCoS Bribery Allegation In Bobrisky Case

The House of Representatives has opened an investigation into bribery allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).

This follows the release of an audio clip by social commentator, VeryDarkMan, in which cross-dresser Bobrisky allegedly claimed that the EFCC dropped money laundering charges against him after receiving a N15 million bribe.

During the plenary session on Thursday, lawmaker Patrick Umoh from Akwa Ibom State raised a motion expressing concern over the serious accusations made by VeryDarkMan against the EFCC and NCS, noting the damage such claims could cause.

Umoh highlighted the allegation that Bobrisky paid N15 million to have charges dropped and, after being convicted for abusing the Naira, was reportedly not held in a correctional facility but instead lodged elsewhere.

He said, “The publication alleges that the EFCC dropped money laundry charges against Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky upon collection of the sum of N15,000, 000.

“The publication alleges that Idris Okuneye, upon conviction for abuse and defacing of the Naira, by the court, did not serve his time at the Nigeria Correctional Service, but was lodged outside the confines of the service.

“We are disturbed about the damning allegations against Nigerian critical law enforcement agencies-the EFCC and the NCS established by this hallowed chambers to fight correction and incarcerate persons convicted of crime for correctional purposes respectively.”

The House adopted the motion, and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas assigned it to the Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions for investigation, requesting a report within three legislative weeks.

KanyiDaily recalls that Bobrisky recently revealed he is struggling with suicidal thoughts after the bribery allegations against him by VeryDarkMan.
