KanyiDaily recalls that the recent dispute within the Psquare duo reignited after Peter released his new song ‘Winning”.
Paul claimed that the song belongs to him, alleging it was one of six tracks he prepared for a potential Psquare album in 2021, when the brothers briefly reconciled.
According to Paul, Peter re-recorded “Winning” word-for-word without permission, even though Paul intended to include it on his own album set for release next June.
On Tuesday, Peter addressed the issue by posting an audio recording on Instagram, alongside a caption discussing the ongoing conflict.
In his post, he defended himself against critics, saying, “Call us names, call us childish; it is fine… I understand, but if anyone says anything false about me, and I have evidence, I have a right to defend myself. Let’s stay WINNING.”
He continued by challenging Paul’s claim to the song and referred to a moment in which Paul allegedly insulted him.
Peter wrote, ‘You claimed you wrote the song but didn’t know any @calypso60music. Then how come @calypso60music and I now tell you what to sing?” And you still dare to call me “Oloriburuku”.
In the audio, Peter is heard discussing the song’s arrangement with another person identified as @calypso60music, giving instructions on how Paul should sing certain parts of the track.
Peter also claimed that Paul and Jude have taken legal steps to remove Winning from music platforms.
“Just for the record, guys! Jude and Paul wrote through a lawyer and are doing everything possible to remove the song from all music platforms. But I will fight till the end.
“Later, Jude will come and lie to the public that he has had nothing to do with Psquare for 8 years, but he makes phone calls and writes letters to ensure my WINNING is taken down from all platforms. SMH
With my full chest! @calypso60music and I wrote “WINNING,” he added.
The Okoye brothers have had a turbulent relationship, first splitting in 2017 after years of public disputes. Though they reconciled in 2021, their bond seems to be strained again.
This latest fallout comes two years after their widely celebrated reunion and renews tension between the twins, who began their music careers together in 1999.
KanyiDaily recalls that Paul Okoye recently criticized Peter, making it clear that their days of making music together are behind them.
