Yahaya Bello Appeals For Calm As Judge Walks Out Amid Courtroom Chaos

Maryann Anenih, a judge at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, abruptly left the courtroom after a large crowd of Yahaya Bello’s supporters overwhelmed the premises.

The incident occurred on November 27 during the arraignment of the former Kogi State governor on a 19-count charge related to alleged money laundering.

KanyiDaily that Yahaya Bello pleaded not guilty to a 16-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Before the proceedings started, a large group of Bello’s supporters flooded the court, causing chaos.

Security personnel struggled to control the situation, leaving many journalists locked out as tensions ran high.

When Justice Anenih entered the courtroom to take the pleas of Bello and his co-defendants, she quickly left, declaring she would not return until order was restored.

In response, Yahaya Bello rose from his seat and addressed the unruly crowd with outstretched arms, instructing them to leave the courtroom.

His actions were effective, as his followers gradually exited the room one by one.

To ensure compliance, Bello positioned himself near the courtroom entrance, smiling as he monitored the situation and prevented anyone from re-entering against the court’s instructions.

KanyiDaily recalls that Yahaya Bello was detained after he arrived at the EFCC office on Tuesday, accompanied by his legal team.
