Gospel Singer, Timileyin Ajayi Arrested For Beheading Girlfriend For Rituals In Nasarawa

Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi for allegedly killing and dismembering his 24-year-old girlfriend, Salome Enejo, for suspected ritual purposes.

The police spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel confirmed that the girlfriend, Salome Enejo, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, was serving in Abuja before she was gruesomely murdered.

It was gathered that Timileyin Ajayi was caught on Sunday in Orozo, a community between Abuja and Nasarawa State while carrying a bag containing Enejo’s severed head.

Caleb Umaru, a church leader, told PUNCH that a church member noticed Ajayi behaving suspiciously near a river during a church service.

According to him, the member, Victor, saw Ajayi throw a black bag into the water and alerted others. Upon retrieval, the bag was found to contain the victim’s head.

Umaru said, “It was just before the end of the service, around 11 a.m., during the final pledge and prayers. A church member, Brother Victor, opened his eyes during the prayers and noticed someone walking suspiciously by the river near the church, carrying a bag. His movements caught Victor’s attention, prompting him to call over Brother Amos to take notice as well.

“When he saw them, he threw a black nylon bag into the river, and when they enquired from him what he threw into the river, he said nothing. After many questions that he didn’t answer, they left him and went back but didn’t go into the church.”

When confronted, the gospel singer tried to flee but was chased down by church members in a nearby farm area. He was eventually handed over to the police.

Umaru explained that a motorcyclist who had earlier transported Ajayi became suspicious after noticing blood dripping from his luggage and sought help to confront him.

Police spokesperson, Rahman Nansel provided more details, explaining that the suspect was almost lynched by an angry mob but was rescued by officers.

He said a search of Ajayi’s residence revealed the rest of Enejo’s mutilated body, stored in two sacks, adding that Ajayi is currently receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the mob attack.

Nansel said, ‘‘What happened was that yesterday (Sunday), on the evening of 11th January 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a motorcyclist transporting one Oluwatimileyin Ajayi from Akwanga Angbaku near Cajaah Estate in New Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, noticed blood dripping from the suspect’s luggage.

“Alarmed by the discovery, the motorcyclist raised an alarm, drawing the attention of a nearby crowd. The suspect was found with a fresh human head.

“An angry mob descended on the suspect, but the police, acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, swiftly intervened and rescued him from being lynched.

“The suspect, who sustained injuries, was taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention. A subsequent investigation led the authorities to execute a search warrant at his residence.

“During the search, the remains of a young woman, later identified as 24-year-old Eleojo Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member staying and serving in Nyanya, FCT Abuja, were recovered. The Commissioner of Police has since ordered a thorough investigation, which remains ongoing,” the PRO stated.

Nansel added that an investigation is ongoing, with the Commissioner of Police ensuring thorough scrutiny of the case.

The suspect, known for his 2020 gospel album “God of the Earth”, had gained attention online for motivational content on TikTok under the name “caesar.t.”

Mr Ajayi said about the song, “I once doubted the existence of God until God strategically restored me to Himself and then gave me this song to proclaim his sovereignty’’.

In one video, he dismissed the concept of “village people,” a term often linked to spiritual beliefs in Nigeria.

KanyiDaily had also reported how Adamawa State Police Command arrested two pastors, Ebenezer Otinjele and Juliana Daniel, for allegedly having an extra-marital affair.
