In a statement via its official X handle on Tuesday, NAFDAC said the action was taken after a tip-off from a concerned citizen.
The agency stated that the warehouse is situated at PP2A Bayajidda Street, near Kano Road, New Ogbomosho Road.
“During the raid, workers were caught repackaging expired biscuits into sacks and other expired items, including dairy milk, vegetable oil, soft drinks, and detergents, were also discovered,” NAFDAC said.
The warehouse’s managing director has been arrested and is currently being interrogated.
NAFDAC has promised to impose strict penalties once investigations are completed.
Among the seized items were expired products valued at over ₦7 million, including “H-Pylori” test kits, which pose significant public health risks.
Since November 26, 2024, NAFDAC has implemented guidelines for the handling and disposal of unwholesome products such as medicines, food, medical devices, and cosmetics.
The agency stressed that only products registered under NAFDAC regulations can be manufactured, sold, imported, or used in Nigeria.
“Products are considered unwholesome if they are expired, improperly sealed, damaged, improperly stored, incorrectly labelled, counterfeit, substandard, prohibited, or unauthorized.
“At the facility level, proper management includes maintaining an inventory book for unwholesome products,” it noted.
The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious products or activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.
KanyiDaily recalls that NAFDAC previously alerted Nigerians on the circulation of unwholesome Sprite 50cl glass bottles in the country.
