“He’s An Unrepentant Rascal” – Ogun Government Slams Portable For Attacking State Officials

Ogun State Government has criticized Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, over his actions against officials from the State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA).

It was gathered that the OGPDPA officials were recently attacked at Portable’s bar near Iyana Ilogbo, in the Sango Ota area of Ogun.

In a statement on Friday, Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, described Portable as a “serial dissident” and “unrepentant rascal” who frequently harasses government officials.

Akinmade condemned the attack on state government officers carrying out their duties, calling it “unacceptable and barbaric.”

He warned that such misconduct would not be tolerated and would be addressed according to the law.

The adviser emphasized that Portable’s repeated aggressive behavior is creating unnecessary panic in the community and is becoming a serious concern for both the government and residents.

He reaffirmed the Ogun Government’s commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring that all individuals—regardless of their social status—are held accountable for unlawful actions.

We are profoundly taken aback by the unpleasant and uncivil act of the Hip-hop artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable on Wednesday, in Iyana- Ilogbo area of the state where his bar is located,” he said.

“The way in which Portable and some set of miscreants he employed in the dastardly act attacked the officials of the OGPDPA is not only bizarre but a confirmation of erosion of Omoluabi ethos in those individuals and indeed a great disgrace to the state.”

The governor also denounced the attack, emphasizing that his administration would not tolerate lawlessness.

Governor Dapo Abiodun totally condemned this primitive and indecent act and reiterated his avowed commitment to just and egalitarian society as he is ready to make any individual flouting the extant law of the land to face the full wrath of the law irrespective of social status and influence,” he warned.

On Thursday, the Ogun State Police Command arraigned nine of Portable’s associates at a Magistrates’ Court in Isabo, Abeokuta.

The suspects, identified as Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26), were charged with multiple offenses, including felony, assault, and possession of dangerous weapons.

The charges against them included attacking government officials with cutlasses and guns, obstructing public officers, and engaging in conduct likely to disturb public peace.

All nine defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the case is expected to proceed in court.

KanyiDaily recalls that Portable recently called on fans for prayers and support as he faces legal troubles with the Ogun State government.
