Social media had earlier gone wild after news broke that Yusuf Alabi was being held at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos over accusations of theft and involvement in a fight.
His trial is set for April 28, 2025, and his legal team has shared some updates on the case.
Peter Obi’s visit was made public by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the interim national coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, who revealed that the politician met with Yusuf’s mother and sister, offering his full support to the family during this difficult time.
During his trip to Lagos, Obi also spoke to students at the University of Lagos. He was the special guest at the 28th Annual General Assembly of the National University Nursing Students’ Association (NUNSA).
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Tanko wrote: “His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi, through the Obidient Movement, visited Qudir Yusuf Alabi at the Kirikiri Medium Correctional Centre in Apapa, Lagos.
“During the visit, he connected with Qudir’s mother and sister, standing in solidarity with the family and expressing unwavering support during this difficult time.
“In the same vein, His Excellency in addressed students at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where he was a special guest at the 28th Annual General Assembly of the National University Nursing Students’ Association (NUNSA).
“In his speech, he encouraged the future nurses to embrace excellence, service, and compassion, reaffirming his commitment to youth empowerment and the transformation of Nigeria’s healthcare sector.”
