Sheikh Mustapha Aliyu, the leader of the Munazzamatul Fityanul Islam group in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, was killed after being held in captivity for nearly three weeks.
The cleric was kidnapped on Saturday, April 12, 2025, when gunmen stormed Gidan Kaji village and took him away.
His death was confirmed on Friday, May 2, by a security expert known as Bakatsine, who shared the news on social media.
He wrote: “SAD NEWS: Bandits have k!lled Sheikh Mustapha Aliyu Unguwar Mai Kawo, a respected Islamic scholar & leader of Munazzamatul Fityanul Islam in Kankara LGA, Katsina State, after nearly 3 weeks in captivity.”
