Kano Court Dismisses Ganduje’s Application To Stop His Bribery Trial

A Kano State High Court has rejected an attempt by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to stop his ongoing corruption trial.

Ganduje, his wife Hafsat, and six others are facing an 11-count charge filed by the Kano State Government.

The charges involve bribery, conspiracy, and the alleged misuse of public funds running into billions of naira.

On Tuesday, Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu dismissed the preliminary objections filed by Ganduje and his co-accused, calling them baseless and lacking legal merit.

She confirmed that the court has full authority to handle the case and stated that the charges are valid.

The judge also made it clear that the trial will continue, even if the accused fail to appear in court.

One of the defendants, Lamash Properties Limited, was ordered to appear, and the case was adjourned to July 30 and 31 for hearing.

Other defendants include Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Safari Textiles Limited, Lasage General Enterprises Limited, and Lamash Properties Limited.

The state’s legal representative, Adeola Adedipe (SAN), argued that all the objections were simply tactics to stall the trial and urged the court to ignore them.

Ganduje’s legal team, along with lawyers for other defendants, had claimed that the court lacked jurisdiction, but their arguments were rejected.

Justice Aliyu ruled that none of the applications had merit, and the trial would move forward according to the law.

KanyiDaily recalls that APC in Ganduje ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, had suspended the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, over alleged corruption.
