The abduction reportedly took place Monday evening along the Benin-Ifon-Owo expressway, close to the entrance of his farm.
As of Tuesday, details surrounding the incident were still unclear.
Ondo State Police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the kidnapping and said a search operation involving police officers, local hunters, Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), and the Nigerian Army was already underway.
Ayanlade said, “I can confirm to you that the chairman APC ward 5 was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm along Ifon-Owo road.
“At the receipt of the report, the DPO Ifon, in collaboration with the hunters, local VGN and Nigeria Army personnel, have launched a manhunt for the suspects.”
He urged the public to provide any useful information that could help locate the victim and bring the kidnappers to justice.
Authorities also advised residents to stay alert and report anything suspicious.
