Alckmin and his wife landed at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport this morning.
His visit is seen as a major step in strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic ties with Brazil and is expected to lead to important agreements in several key areas.
The Brazilian delegation was welcomed by top Nigerian government officials, including Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President; Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Idi Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development; and Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security.
Senator Hadejia described the visit as a key moment in the government’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, highlighting its importance for Nigeria’s development goals.
“This dialogue mechanism represents our commitment to leveraging South-South partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to our citizens,” Hadejia said.
“Brazil’s expertise in agribusiness, energy transition, and industrial development aligns perfectly with Nigeria’s transformation priorities and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
The three-day summit is expected to conclude with the signing of more than 30 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering various sectors, including defence, agricultural innovation, energy cooperation, and cultural exchange initiatives.
KanyiDaily recalls that President Bola Tinubu recently claimed that his government is delivering on its promise to turn Nigeria into a major force in global agriculture.
