She was named the “Best Allied Student” and also won the award for the “Best Assistant Commandant Paper” at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) in Accra.
These honours were handed to Kafayat Sanni during the college’s graduation ceremony on Friday, which drew high-ranking military leaders and dignitaries from various African countries.
Sanni first made headlines in 2019 when she became the first woman to be commissioned as a fighter pilot in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), following her flight training in the United States.
Since earning her wings, she has flown the Alpha Jet and served as an instructor on the Super Mushshak aircraft, playing a key role in training and mentoring the next generation of NAF pilots.
Her recent success at GAFCSC is a testament to her dedication and talent, while also reflecting Nigeria’s rising influence in regional military affairs and its push for greater gender representation in the armed forces.
This latest accomplishment also highlights the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to developing its personnel, an effort strongly backed by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar.
