The attack, which happened last Friday, claimed the lives of at least 200 people and left many others wounded.
Upon landing at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Makurdi around 12:58 p.m., the president went straight to the hospital to see those receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the violence.
After visiting the victims, Tinubu proceeded to the new Banquet Hall at the Benue State Government House for a closed-door meeting with key stakeholders.
He’s expected to meet with families of the victims, injured survivors, displaced residents, and local leaders from the affected communities.
The goal is to have open discussions aimed at finding long-term solutions to the recurring violence, especially in the rural parts of the state.
The meeting is expected to include top figures such as Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue, other state governors—particularly from North-Central Nigeria—National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
Service chiefs, lawmakers, APC party leaders, and community representatives from the attacked areas are also expected to be present.
To mark the president’s visit, the Benue State Government declared Wednesday a public holiday.
KanyiDaily had shared a video showing young school children standing by the roadside in their uniforms, soaked by the rain as they waited for President Bola Tinubu’s convoy.
