Sallah: FG Declares Friday And Monday As Public Holidays For Eid-Ul-Adha Celebrations

The Federal Government has announced that Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, will be public holidays in honour of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.

This announcement was made in a statement released on Monday in Abuja by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.

According to the statement, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the government.

The minister extended his congratulations to Muslims in Nigeria and around the world, encouraging them to reflect on the values of sacrifice and faith shown by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him).

He called on the Muslim Ummah to continue to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him) and to also use the period to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.

“The minister assured Nigerians that the people-orientated reforms and initiatives carried out in furtherance of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration are to restore Nigeria on the path of progress.

“While wishing the Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-ul-Adha celebration, the minister urged all Nigerians to join hands with the present administration in its efforts to restore the glory of Nigeria as a great nation,” the statement added.

KanyiDaily recalls that Kano State Government also announced a 12-day school break for Eid-el-Kabir, running from June 4 to June 16, for all primary and secondary schools across the state.
