Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, said Inter Milan have made their move and are confident in securing the Super Eagles star.
Lookman has reportedly agreed to the transfer, and Inter are ready to table the €40 million bid despite Atalanta’s asking price of €50 million.
“Inter are serious about Lookman, agreement with the player, €40m ready for Atalanta,” Di Marzio said.
Lookman, who previously played for RB Leipzig and Leicester City, still has a contract with Atalanta until 2027.
However, sources suggest that Atalanta had earlier given their word to allow him leave this summer, and Inter are banking on that promise.
Inter have made it clear they won’t go above €40 million, even though Atalanta are holding out for more.
The club sees Lookman as a top priority in their summer transfer plans and are ready to proceed whether or not they offload other players.
“Atalanta are asking for at least €50m, but Inter do not intend to go beyond their proposal,” Di Marzio added.
“The player has already given his approval to the transfer, which is why the Champions League runners-up are keen to avoid prolonged negotiations. If talks drag on, Inter may decide to move on to other targets, including Nico Gonzalez.”
Ademola Lookman had a standout 2024–25 season, scoring 15 goals and playing a crucial role in Atalanta’s Europa League title win.
His strong performances have made him a top target for Inter’s new manager, Christian Chivu, who wants to build his attack around the versatile Nigerian.
Chivu reportedly values Lookman’s ability to play both wings and also as a support striker. He sees him as a strong addition alongside Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram for the upcoming season.
While clubs like Napoli and Arsenal have shown interest, Inter are currently leading the race, with Lookman said to be fully on board with the move to the San Siro.
KanyiDaily recalls that Ademola Lookman paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence, bringing along his 2024 CAF Footballer of the Year award.
