Buhari To Be Buried On Tuesday As Mourners Flood His Daura Home

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has announced the burial plans for former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at a hospital in London.

Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, Governor Radda said arrangements had been made after discussions with Buhari’s family and close associates in the UK.

According to him, the late president’s body will arrive in Katsina by noon on Tuesday, July 15, with the burial scheduled for 2 p.m. in Daura, Buhari’s hometown.

Radda offered his condolences to Buhari’s family and the entire nation, describing the loss as one that deeply affects Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole.

Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing in London to finalize paperwork for the release of Buhari’s remains.

According to Channels TV, Buhari’s body will be handed over once all documentation is completed.

Earlier on Monday, Vice President Kashim Shettima and the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, arrived in London to receive the late president’s body.

They were welcomed by Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, and other Nigerian officials.

Back in Nigeria, Buhari’s home in Daura, Katsina State, has seen a steady stream of mourners.

Family members, friends, and longtime neighbors have gathered to pay their respects, sharing memories of the former leader.

Many described Buhari as a humble and disciplined man who remained close to his roots despite holding the highest office in the country.

One of his longtime friends, Sulaiman Yarin-Katsina, said Buhari’s simple lifestyle kept him connected to his people throughout his life.

Despite the heavy security presence around Daura and the Emir’s palace, daily life along the town’s main roads has continued as usual, even as residents pause to remember a man they say will be missed for his character and values.

Meanwhile, some Nigerians in the northern region have taken to the streets to celebrate the death of Muhammadu Buhari.
