Chelsea Defender Tosin Adarabioyo Visits Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu [Photos]

Chelsea defender, Tosin Adarabioyo paid a visit to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday, ahead of a youth football tournament being held in his honour at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Tosin Adarabioyo, who is currently in Nigeria for a homecoming tour, stopped by the Governor’s office as part of his activities in the country.

The visit came a day before the “Tosin Adarabioyo Youth Cup,” organised by the Lagos State Football Association.

Governor Sanwo-Olu shared photos from the visit on Facebook and praised the Chelsea player for staying connected to his roots.

He wrote, “Tosin Adarabioyo, who plays for Chelsea, stopped by to visit while he’s in Nigeria.

“It’s always inspiring to meet young Nigerians making their mark internationally, who remain grounded and stay connected to home.”

The youth tournament, scheduled to take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena (formerly known as Onikan Stadium), is expected to attract local football talents, fans, and grassroots sports supporters.

Organisers confirmed that Adarabioyo will be present at the event, saying, “This will be fun!!! Tosin will be LIVE at the stadium.”

Born in Manchester to Nigerian parents, the 27-year-old centre-back has played for England at youth level but remains eligible to represent Nigeria.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup around the corner, he revealed that he’s getting closer to making a final decision on his international future.

Although there were past claims that he rejected call-ups from Nigeria, Adarabioyo has denied those reports.

Nigeria has welcomed several England-born players in recent years, including Victor Moses, Shola Ameobi, and more recently, Ademola Lookman, who has become an important figure in the Super Eagles squad after previously representing England at youth level.

Tosin Adarabioyo’s visit and his involvement in the youth tournament highlight a growing interest among diaspora players in giving back to Nigerian football.

His presence at the event is expected to inspire young talents and show that achieving international success doesn’t mean losing touch with one’s roots.
