Kwankwaso, who shared the news on Friday via his official X handle, pointed to the state’s leadership as a major reason for the growing number of defectors from opposition parties, especially the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He also encouraged others who may be considering a switch to the NNPP to go ahead, saying the party’s leadership and direction continue to attract more Nigerians into its ranks.
“Yesterday was a momentous occasion, as I received thousands of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) into the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
“Speaking during the event at my residence in Kano, I welcomed the new members into our party and I promised them equitable treatment and cooperation.
“The distinguished leadership style in Kano and our political leadership keep attracting more people into our fold, and I encourage those considering joining to do so without any hesitation,” he said.
KanyiDaily recalls that Senator Kawu Sumaila, who represents Kano South, recently dumped the NNPP and rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
