The bank, however, said its banking systems and digital platforms remain safe and are operating normally.
In a message sent to customers on Tuesday, Zenith Bank explained that the breach was linked to a wider global cyberattack that has affected several organisations in different industries around the world.
The bank said it responded immediately after detecting the incident by activating its emergency response procedures and strengthening its cybersecurity measures to contain the issue.
“Zenith Bank is investigating unauthorised access to limited customer information including email addresses and phone numbers.
“This incident is part of a broader, global cyber-attack targeting multiple international organizations across various sectors.
“Upon discovery, we promptly activated our incident response protocols, cybersecurity actions and remediation efforts,” the notice read.
According to Zenith Bank, only limited customer data was accessed without authorisation, while its core banking infrastructure was not affected.
“Our banking services and digital channels remain secure and fully operational,” it said.
As an added safety measure, customers were advised to be cautious of phishing scams, including fake emails, text messages and phone calls designed to steal personal information.
Zenith Bank also reminded customers not to share confidential details such as passwords, PINs, One-Time Passwords (OTPs) or any other security codes with anyone.
The bank reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding customer information and thanked customers for their continued confidence and support.
It also encouraged anyone with questions or concerns to contact Zenith Direct through its official customer service channels.
