The attack took place on July 25 when armed bandits stormed the chairman’s home in Bungudu town.
During the raid, Nura Abdullahi and two other residents were kidnapped.
According to reports, Bello Abdullahi, a former treasurer with the Zamfara State Ministry of Finance, rushed to the scene with other residents in an effort to help during the attack, but he was shot and seriously injured.
Jamilu Bungudu, media aide to Abdulmalik Zubairu, the member representing the Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency, confirmed that Bello died from his injuries on Monday.
His death brings the total number of people killed in connection with the attack to five, including the four security personnel who lost their lives during the initial assault.
Meanwhile, the Bungudu Local Government chairman and the other victims kidnapped during the attack are still being held by their abductors.
