Local and security sources, who spoke to Daily Trust, said the abduction happened around 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday near Garin Kashim.
The victims were reportedly travelling in a Volkswagen Golf car on their way to Kukawa.
“The insurgents intercepted the vehicle, asked the secretary and the other person to step out, and released the remaining passengers. They then led the newly posted secretary and the other victim into the bush,” a security source said.
Witnesses believe the attackers may have acted on information from someone in the area, noting that troops from Sector 3 of the Nigerian military have been deployed to locate and rescue the victims.
One resident claimed, “They (the insurgents) hid near the river and waited for the Golf to arrive. They went straight for the secretary and the other person. This was the work of an informant.”
“We made a distress call to Sector 3, and they immediately dispatched troops to track and rescue the victims,” he said.
This latest abduction comes just two days after Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters executed seven people, including local hunters, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members, and community security volunteers.
