They were arrested along with two officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), over alleged vote buying during the by-election.
It was gathered that the suspects were picked up in Iperu on Saturday morning with large sums of money said to be earmarked for influencing voters.
According to reports, they have since given the police useful details about their roles in an alleged plan to bribe officials and compromise the election.
However, the Ogun PDP has dismissed the arrest as politically motivated.
In a statement, the party claimed Tella was taken from his hotel room in what it described as a deliberate move to weaken the opposition and give the All Progressives Congress (APC) an advantage in the polls.
KanyiDaily recalls that security operatives also arrested a man accused of attempting to buy votes with a large sum of cash ahead of today’s Kaduna bye-elections.
