El-Rufai Running A One-Man Show, He Only Consults SDP Loyalists – ADC

Some members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna have accused former governor Nasir El-Rufai of working against the party’s stability ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Adamu Dattijo, representing stakeholders from all 23 local government areas, claimed that El-Rufai and his close associates were taking actions that could damage the ADC’s structure in the state.

According to him, the former governor, along with his former aides Ja’afaru Sani and Bashir Sa’idu, has been sidelining the party’s leadership while promoting his own loyalists.

Dattijo alleged that El-Rufai has abandoned democratic consultation for an “autocratic style of leadership.”

He runs a one-man show, taking decisions without consultation and holding meetings only with his personal loyalists, particularly SDP remnants, while sidelining the authentic ADC leadership and grassroots structures across the 23 LGAs of Kaduna,” the group said.

He described the approach as “disrespectful and harmful” to the party’s future, stressing that true political parties are built on inclusion and consultation, not the dictates of one individual.

“A political party is built on inclusion, consultation, and loyalty to its structures — not on the whims of one individual or a few allies,” he said.

The group further accused El-Rufai of trying to hijack coalition arrangements in Kaduna by appointing transition leaders from different parties without involving the ADC’s executives.

Dattijo argued that such moves were designed to impose false leadership on the party and weaken its legally recognised structures.

“The action is part of a broader strategy to weaken the authority of the party executives and structures recognised by law and by the people.

“They have polarised the ADC/coalition line in Kaduna, alienated loyal members, and discouraged genuine stakeholders who have laboured for this party.

“Instead of building unity, they are building enmity. Instead of mobilising for 2027, they are scattering the house we have all built with sweat and sacrifice,” he said.

The stakeholders urged the ADC’s national leadership to step in immediately to prevent further damage.

We urgently call on you to intervene without delay. You must call Malam Nasir el-Rufai and his co-travellers to order,” Dattijo said.

He also appealed directly to El-Rufai to stop what he described as “reckless behaviour” and allow the party to function without interference.

KanyiDaily recalls that Nasir El-Rufai recently warned the ADC Vanguard, a support group linked to the ADC, to stop spreading false statements in his name.
